MUSE is a service provided by the National Museum of Natural History enabling you to register a request concerning naturalist collections online: loan, visit, sampling, imaging, observation. Once the request has been registered, follow its processing until it is accepted (or refused) by MNHN teams.

Biological anthropology

The MNHN's biological anthropology collections are among the world's most diverse and as such they constitute a unique resource

Cultural Anthropology

The MNHN's cultural anthropology collections focus on the interrelationship between human societies and their environment.

Terrestrial arthropods

The terrestrial arthropod collections include insects, arachnids and myriapods.

Botany, Herbarium & Gardens

The botanical collections include over 2,000,000 herbarium parts of cryptogams and over 6,000,000 herbarium parts of phanerogams.

Non-Arthropod Terrestrial Invertebrates

The collection boasts a large number of types, making it one of the richest in diversity and abundance.

Paleontology

The palaeontology collections contains between 5 and 6 million specimens and microfossil slides, including 4 million lots of invertebrates and 450,000 vertebrates.

Prehistory

The prehistory collections focus on archaeological remains, mineral, animal and plant matter, the manufacture of objects, tools and weapons, and symbolic objects.

Biological Resources

Biological resource collections preserve micro-organisms to study the mechanisms of life.

Earth and Universe

The mineralogy and geology collections include more than 4,000 meteorites, nearly 24,000 specimens of endogenous rocks, 500,000 exogenous rocks and 138,000 minerals.

Vertebrates

The vertebrate collections comprise around 1.4 million specimens.
